a hapless hope
"a field/of suns crawls into the sky." I love this line (and this whole poem)!
thanks, Jenna! I really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment on it
Loved all of this. so wonderful
thank you, Megan!
So beautiful Andy!
I’m glad you liked it, Jodi
So gorgeous! Also love “..and in the disappointment grew the sunflowers”. What a beautiful thing for disappointment to grow.
We usually get sunflowers in late summer here, and there’s a stretch right by the woods where they’ll grow, and I stand mesmerised every year.
Yes, I quite like that sentence too. It makes me curious about the sunflowers growing in other disappointments in my life.
I hope this year, you have an especially full patch of sunflowers to enjoy!
Thank you, my friend! 🌻
The poem and the flowers are gorgeous!
thank you, Rea! Yes, walking past the flowers every day has been a real treat recently
“A field of suns” sounds so reverent and intimate. Such a sweet poem🌻🌻🌻
thanks, Holly. It does feel reverent— noticing the beauty rise amidst all the cracked and broken stems, hanging heavy with heads still full of unharvested wheat.
I also love, "a field of sun crawls into the sky" 🌞 Sunflowers are such a wonderful time marker of the season. Thanks for this poem!
yes! nothing says early summer here like a field of sunflowers! thanks for reading, Sara
Challenging hailstorms,
they stand tall, bright, up-right(eous).
Bring it on, say blooms.
oh, I love the "they stand tall, bright, up-right(eous)." Thank you for this (as always), Marisol
