SOLID 

i'm sure i'm not alone
and you have probably felt it too
that quiet discontent murmuring in your ear
wondering what and how and when
you'll make a change.
and your heart like mine has probably taken on water 
as the sinking feelings trickle in
threatening to cover you 
in weakness and lostness
and powerlessness.

some days the circumstances of life feel 
so frighteningly unquestionable
so unalterably solid
the way god's will feels solid
the way a prison door feels solid
the way this key in my hand feels solid.
